Champorcher: A Mountain Paradise

Champorcher is a picturesque high mountain village, nestled among green meadows and larch forests. With a typically alpine climate, the summers are dry and temperate, making this place ideal for a relaxing getaway.

The heart of the village, called Chateau, is located at 1427 meters above sea level. Here you can admire the ancient remains of the castle, with its crenellated tower, and the 18th-century church of San Nicola, whose bell tower houses a bell from 1548.

From the locality of Chardonney, the ski lifts depart, leading to the extraordinary Champorcher ski area, where you can ski up to an altitude of 2500 meters. Between Chateau and Chardonney, you will find various sports facilities to enjoy in every season.

Further ahead, the pine forest offers a perfect spot for summer picnics along the banks of the Ayasse, rich in trout. In winter, this area becomes part of the valley's cross-country ski trails. With a capacity of about 1000 people, the 5-hectare area features a parking lot with 220 spaces, 148 tables, 43 grills, and two chalets equipped with restrooms.

On August 5th, don't miss the evocative festival of the Madonna delle Nevi: a nighttime procession illuminated by torches that reaches Lake Miserin, where the sanctuary dedicated to the Madonna is located.

Champorcher offers numerous itineraries for hiking, mountain biking, or horseback riding. Don't miss the permanent exhibition dedicated to handcrafted hemp textiles and the parish museum. Each hamlet in the municipality has a bread oven, a chapel, and a playground for children.
